Sea My New Necklace

My love of jewellery is legendary. Since my earliest days I've had a thing for the bling. My mother has a photograph of me and my older sister, when I was 3; I'm wearing a too-big bracelet and I am posing and pressing my arm to my side so that the bracelet doesn't slip off. When I was four I was given a gold ring with my intial and I wore that ring on various fingers untilI lost it down the sink at age 25 at the wretched place I used to work. That was a sad day. In a sad, sad place.

Although I have a lot of the real stuff, I love anything that is funky and unusual. And since I love the treasures of the sea as much as I adore jewellery, I thought 'Hhmmmmm...why not make a necklace out of a sand dollar, that would be kinda groovy'.

This didn't involve much in the way of creation; just slipped a leather cord through a sand dollar and voila!

I am basically fly paper for jewellery. Whatever I can use to adorn myself with, I will use.

Someday people will say of me: "Her artistic sense was exquisitely refined, like someone who can tell butter from I Can't Believe It's Not Butter".

  2. I love this!!! Sometimes the most simple ideas turn out to be the best! I'll have to look for a sand dollar next time I'm at the coast so I can copy you. Thanks for the inspiration!
